IPD Measure
The app to measure your PD
with your phone.
IPD Measure is a PD measurement app that uses on-device AI and your front camera to measure your pupillary distance in seconds — no ruler, no friend, no optician needed. Built for ordering glasses online and dialing in VR headsets.

What is IPD?
The distance between your pupils.
Your interpupillary distance — usually between 54 and 74 mm — determines how your eyes align with the optical centers of a lens. Get it wrong and your glasses cause eye strain. Set up a VR headset with the wrong IPD and the image goes soft.
Most online glasses retailers ask for it. Most opticians won't print it on your prescription. IPD Measure is the app to measure your PD yourself — fast and private.
How it works
Measure your PD in three seconds.
- 01
Open the app
Grant camera access and hold your phone in front of you at arm's length. No login, no sign-up.
- 02
Look at the pulsating dot
Our on-device face tracker locks onto your irises. Hold still for three seconds — if you blink or shift, the timer pauses and resumes.
- 03
Get your PD
We take three readings and average them, using your iris diameter (11.7 mm on average) as a built-in ruler. Order glasses with confidence.
Features
Built private. Built precise.
On-device AI
Face landmarks run locally with MediaPipe. Your camera frames never leave your phone.
No account, no tracking
No sign-up. No analytics SDKs. We don't see your readings or your face.
Iris-based ruler
Adult horizontal iris diameter is biologically consistent at 11.7 ± 0.5 mm. We use it as the in-frame reference.
Glasses or VR
Output in millimetres, exactly the value online opticians and VR headset configs expect.
Card calibration (Premium)
Use any standard ID or bank card as a known-size ruler for ~±1 mm precision instead of the ~±3 mm default.
Works on most Androids
Any device with a front camera and Android 9+. The model is lightweight enough to run in real time.
Sharper readings with a credit card.
The free version uses an average iris diameter to scale the image. Premium calibrates with a credit, debit, or ID card — an exact, known-size reference — for ~±1 mm precision instead of ~±3 mm. One-time $4.99.
Pay once. Works for life on the same Google account. No subscription.
FAQ
Common questions.
How accurate is it?
The free reading is typically within ±3 mm of an optician's measurement — good enough for most online glasses orders. With Premium card calibration, it's typically within ±1 mm.
Do you store my camera images?
No. All face tracking runs locally on your device through MediaPipe. Frames never leave your phone, and we don't upload, store, or analyze them on a server.
Why does it need camera access?
To detect your irises and measure the distance between them. That's the only thing camera access is used for.
Is there an iPhone version?
Android only for now. iOS is in the pipeline — check back, or follow updates by emailing us.
What do I do with my PD once I have it?
Enter it as the "PD" or "pupillary distance" field when ordering glasses online, or use it to set the lens spacing on most VR headsets.
